The Emerald Crown

You step back and take a careful look at the cavern. The Mark of Balance grows warmer as you study the walls. You notice the grooves near the iron gate are not random—they form a pattern. A circle. A break. A turning stone. You follow the pattern with your eyes… and spot it. Half-buried beneath a cluster of glowing mushrooms is a stone lever, shaped to blend into the wall. Its surface is carved with the same symbols you saw beneath the druid building. You grip the lever and pull. With a deep, steady rumble, the iron gate lifts smoothly into the ceiling. At the same time, the stone slab on the other path slides back into place, locking itself harmlessly into the wall. The cavern grows still. The Mark of Balance pulses once—warm, approving. Now both paths are open. To your left, the tunnel revealed by the moving stone slab slopes sharply downward. Cold air rushes from it, carrying the sound of distant water and the faint echo of tapping stone. To your right, the tunnel behind the iron gate curves gently forward. Strange markings glow along its walls, and the air feels warmer, almost alive.
