Santa's Missing List

You stay in the North Star Clearing and watch as Tinselberry flips a tiny switch on the wind reader. The brass machine begins to whirr-whirr-whirr softly. Then it starts spinning. And spinning. And spinning SUPER fast, like a tiny tornado made of gears and bells. "Whoa…" Tinselberry whispers. With a sharp ding!, the wind reader stops spinning and points firmly toward a long glittering walkway made of frozen blue crystals. "The Icicle Path!" Tinselberry says. "It definitely blew that way!" But just as he takes a step, the wind reader jerks in his hands. DING! It spins again and points the complete opposite direction—toward a sparkling frozen pond ringed with silver reeds. "That's strange," Tinselberry mutters. "Now it says the list might've gone toward the Snowshine Mirror Pond." Snowshine Mirror Pond is famous in the North Pole. Its ice is so smooth and shiny that forest animals use it to check their reflections before holiday parties. Sometimes, the ice even shows magical glimmers of things that passed by. Tinselberry scratches his head. "The wind must have been swirling in circles. It could've gone either way!" You look from the tall, glittering Icicle Path … to the glowing, mirror-like pond.
