You decide to try to force the stone slab out of the way. You don't have a lot of time before Iredale will lose all of its good luck forever. You brace yourself against the slab and push. It doesn't move. You push harder. Your boots scrape against the cavern floor. Dust rains down from the ceiling. At last, with a grinding roar, the slab shifts.
For a moment, you feel triumphant. Then the ground trembles. The slab slides too far, striking the cavern wall. A deep crack echoes through the stone. More rocks tumble down, sealing the passage completely. The tunnel behind you collapses as well, cutting off your retreat.
The Mark of Balance in your palm cools—silent. A quick glance around the cavern reveals that the cave in has blocked all the passages. You are stuck. Bad luck has indeed won out… or was it your own impatience? You realize you should have taken a couple of minutes to assess the cavern and different possibilities. But now you will never make it back to Iredale.
The End.
