Santa's Missing List

"I'm so, so sorry it ended up here," you say quickly. "A gust of wind blew it out the window, and we've been searching everywhere. It's really important." Grumblebeard squints at you. For a second, you think he might explode into a fresh round of complaints…but instead he huffs out a frosty sigh. "Well… if it's important, take it," he grumbles, shoving it into your hands. "But you'd better hurry! There's a blizzard coming the size of a giant's sneeze. And the wind's already messing up my perfectly raked snow paths! RUDE." "Thank you!" you say, climbing onto Dancer. "Bah! Go on then!" he calls as you ride away. "And tell Santa to put 'people who lose lists' on the Maybe-Nice list!" Dancer gallops down the mountain as the snow thickens, with you on her back. Wind howls. Frost stings your face. But you hold tight to the list all the way back to North Pole Village. You burst into Santa's workshop, brushing off snow. "Ho ho ho! You found it!" Santa cheers when he sees the scroll in your hands. He looks SO relieved. You nod proudly. "Grumblebeard had it stuck to his cave!" Santa chuckles. "He may be grumpy, but he's got a good heart." Then he hands you a giant sugar cookie decorated like a Christmas tree. "A special thank-you for saving Christmas." You grin, nibbling the delicious cookie as warm lights glow around you and the storm howls outside. The End.
