You rush to Ms. Lily, your voice tight with excitement. "Ms. Lily! I saw footprints outside the window! Big, round boots! I think whoever stole the cupcakes has large feet and wears heavy boots!" Ms. Lily looks outside the window. "That's a dead end. Mr. Davis, our janitor, was just outside our window this morning doing some weatherproofing work. Those are definitely his boot prints, and he would have been walking around the outside of the building." The trail outside is cold. You realize the culprit must still be inside the school. "The window is a bust," she says. "Let's focus on the clues we still have right here in the classroom."
